About Our Logo
WeCAN’s logo prominently features a leafing tree superimposed on a striped field in the shape of the West Colfax neighborhood. The stripes in the neighborhood field are a reference to the design of the Rodolfo “Corky” Gonzales Branch Library, one of our neighborhood’s most important civic assets. The largest stripe with the word “Colfax” in it signifies West Colfax Avenue, the main artery and commercial core of our neighborhood. The multi-colored leaves on the tree represent the diverse neighbors that work, live, and own property in West Colfax. These leaves come together into the strong trunk that forms the backbone of WeCAN. The tree itself is also a nod to WeCAN’s sustainability focus.
Our logo was designed by local Sloans Lake neighbor and graphic artist Karen Adams. Karen worked with WeCAN’s board and local stakeholders to gather community input into the overall look and visual design of WeCAN’s brand. You can learn more about Karen and her work at www.karenadams101.com
